Back to School Homework Tips

Back to school time is on! Many of us are trying to adjust our sleep & morning routines a bit to make the transition easier. Back to homework can be one of the most difficult transitions for our school kids.

Ann Dolin, M. Ed., is a former public school teacher in Northern Virginia with over 20 years of teaching and tutoring experience. She founded Educational Connections Inc. which provides individualized one-to-one instruction based on each student’s learning style. Ann is also the author of Homework Made Simple: Tips, Tools and Solutions for Stress-Free Homework.

We’ll discuss how much homework to expect for each child’s grade, what the best environment for a homework space looks like and how to keep the enthusiasm & motivation up as the school year moves along.

Cloth Diaper Subsidy in Victoria?

Rachel Aube is a cloth diaper advocate and the non profit coordinator leading the initiative to create a subsidy program for families who choose to cloth diaper their babies.

We’ll discuss what cloth diapering is like in the 2000′s plus the benefits to the environment and pocket books of families. Rachel will share what cloth diaper subsidies look like in other areas of the world and what the impact of providing incentives to families who cloth diaper might be. In addition, Rachel will share what has been done so far and what needs to happen to create more community, business and family awareness and involvement towards this cloth diaper initiative.

Good morning. Just a note to let you know that I was a little disappointed in your program on cloth diapering on Saturday past as you mentioned the Diaper Service out of Nanaimo but not the local one that has been in business for over 50 years. The name is Daisy Fresh Services and services the Victoria and Sidney area plus the Western Communities.

Thanks for your comment and I’m sorry to hear you were “disappointed” in my program. There are numerous companies and organizations that I’m sure we didn’t mention but alas the show was focused on the cloth diaper subsidy initiative.
Some great advertising options are: CFAX sales department, Island Parent Magazine or the Vancouver Island Baby Fair.
Also, anyone is welcome to send show ideas to [email protected]
I have covered cloth diapering in my recent show, plus earlier this year for the Great Cloth Diaper Change and I would imagine that the discussion of cloth diapers in general benefits all local cloth diapering companies.
