How deep are your roots?
The popular tv shows Who do you think you are? and Finding your roots have boosted interest in families to find out who is in their family trees. Do you know how far back you can trace your family connections?
Merv Scott is the Project Director with the Victoria Genealogical Society. He led the development of the internet-based resource for teachers and students called Geneology in the Classroom and wrote the youth activity book, Who’s in your Family Tree? A step-by-step guide for the detectives in your family. Merv joins me to talk about the renewed popularity in genealogy, how to get started in researching your own family history and why it can be a great hobby for young people.
Digging up new old treasures
Buying used just makes a lot of sense for some parents. It’s good for the environment, easier on your wallet and puts money back in the hands of other parents.
Jennifer Aikman is the Community Manager at UsedEverywhere.com and the mom of a toddler and a teen. She joins us to talk about the pros of buying used, as well as the safety issues to consider, such as buying or selling a used carseat or items that may have been recalled.
We’ll discuss the great learning opportunity for kids and teens, who can reduce their clutter by getting rid of old toys to raise money for something they want to buy, or perhaps donate to charity. Plus, Jennifer will share what makes a good buyer/seller.
Tune in this Saturday, September 15 from 10-11am PT on CFAX 1070
