Anatomy of anger + Effective communication with our kids

As parents we all get angry & frustrated. But it’s what we do with that anger and how we react to conflict that matters. My guest Sheldon Kitzul joins me to explore this topic and how it relates to parenting. We’ll discuss the Anatomy of Anger, effective communication & conflict management. We’ll also explore what it means to be responsible for our own emotions and increase our own self awareness and help our kids learn these skills.

Sheldon Kitzul is a facilitator of the Dads with Dads program, is a leadership coach, social worker and educator. He coaches business owners and executives, mentors in the Leadership Victoria program, works directly with street-involved men, delivers professional development to organizations and teaches courses at 1Up Single Parent Resource Centre.

Overcoming childhood anxiety

One in five children has a diagnosable mental disorder; one in eight experiences clinical levels of anxiety. Amidst these extremes, every family will deal with some level of childhood anxiety, whether it’s back to school nerves, everyday school pressures, or worries about changes at home.

In her book Generation Stressed: Play-Based Tools to Help Your Child Overcome Anxiety, Michelle Kambolis uses an original, new combination of theory and practical, play-based activity to help this ‘generation stressed.’ which translates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy into fun, playtime exercises that can be practiced by parents with their children.

Marriage lessons & Conscious Uncoupling

Kelly Flannigan Bos knows that relationships – marital or otherwise – can be hard work, and nurturing them often takes a back seat to life’s other demands. The value in her practice comes from her skill at offering concrete tips and techniques for dealing with relationship issues.

Kelly is a psychotherapist focusing on individual, marriage, and family relationships. She is a well-known Canadian relationship expert, and has appeared in a professional capacity in countless media markets as a guest and writer.

Kelly joins me to discuss her top 24 marriage lessons every couple should learn. Plus, we’ll discuss “consciously uncoupling” and why that’s different than divorce.
